Disc Continuous Dryer

The disc continuous dryer is a conductive continuous drying equipment. Its structure and working principle endow it with advantages including high thermal efficiency, low energy consumption, small footprint, simple configuration, convenient operation and control, and favorable working environment. It is widely used for drying operations in chemical, food, feed, agricultural and sideline product processing and other industries.

Working Principle
Wet materials are continuously fed onto the top first drying tray of the dryer via the feeder. The rake arm fitted with rake blades rotates to continuously turn over and stir materials.

Materials flow across the surface of drying trays along an exponential spiral path. Materials on small drying trays are conveyed to the outer edge and fall onto the outer edge of the large drying tray below. On large drying trays, materials move inward and drop through the central discharge opening onto the next lower small drying tray.



Large and small drying trays are arranged alternately from top to bottom, enabling materials to continuously pass through the entire dryer. Heating media such as saturated steam, hot water and thermal oil are introduced into the hollow drying trays, entering from one end and exiting from the other. Dried materials fall from the last drying tray to the bottom of the shell and are then pushed to the discharge outlet by rake blades. Moisture released from materials is exhausted through the moisture vent on the top cover. For vacuum disc dryers, vapour is discharged through the vacuum pump port on the top cover. Dry materials discharged from the bottom can be packed directly.

Auxiliary equipment including finned heaters, solvent recovery condensers, bag dust collectors, dry material back-mixing devices and induced draft fans can be equipped to boost drying capacity. It can process paste-like and heat-sensitive materials, conveniently recover solvents, and perform pyrolysis and reaction operations.

(1) Easy adjustment and wide adaptability
● The drying process can be optimized by adjusting material bed thickness, main shaft speed, quantity of rake arms, as well as the type and size of rake blades.
● Heating or cooling media can be separately supplied to each drying tray to heat or cool materials, allowing easy control of material temperature.

● A sight glass fitted on the large inspection door allows thorough observation and cleaning inside the equipment.

● Thin material bed and low main shaft rotation speed lead to low power demand for the material conveying system and low electricity consumption.
● Drying relies on conductive heat transfer, featuring high thermal efficiency and low energy consumption.

(4) Pleasant working environment, solvent recoverable, dust emission meets standards
● Atmospheric type: Low internal air velocity and a humidity gradient (higher at the top and lower at the bottom) prevent dust from floating to the upper section. Exhaust gas from the top moisture vent contains almost no dust.
● Sealed type: Equipped with solvent recovery units to easily reclaim organic solvents from moisture-laden gas. The solvent recovery system is simple with high recovery rate. For flammable, explosive, toxic and oxidizable materials, nitrogen can be used as the moisture-carrying gas for closed-loop circulation to ensure stable operation. Suitable for drying flammable, explosive and toxic materials.
● Vacuum type: Disc dryers operated under vacuum are suitable for drying heat-sensitive materials.

(5) Easy installation and small footprint
● The dryer is delivered and transported as a complete unit. Only hoisting and positioning are required for simple installation.
● Layered vertical arrangement of drying trays ensures a small floor area even for large drying surfaces.
