Spray drying is a widely used process in liquid forming and drying industries. It is suitable for producing powdery and granular solid products from solutions, emulsions, suspensions and paste-like liquid raw materials. Therefore, spray drying serves as an excellent process when finished products need to meet specified requirements for particle size distribution, residual moisture content, bulk density and particle morphology.
Working Principle
In this unit, feed liquid is delivered under high pressure by a diaphragm pump and atomized into fine droplets. The droplets then flow downward co-currently with hot air. Most powder and granules are collected from the discharge outlet at the tower bottom. Exhaust gas and fine particles are separated by a cyclone separator. The exhaust gas is discharged by an exhaust fan, while powder is collected by the powder receiver installed at the bottom of the cyclone separator. A secondary dust removal device can also be fitted at the fan outlet.
Technical Parameters
Product Features
● Fast drying speed. After atomization, the feed liquid has a greatly increased surface area. 95%–98% of moisture can be evaporated instantly in hot airflow within only a few seconds, making it suitable for drying heat-sensitive materials.
● Finished products feature good uniformity, flowability and solubility with high purity and superior quality.
● Simplified production process and convenient operation control. Liquids with moisture content of 40–60% (up to 90% for specific materials) can be dried into powder or granules in one step. No crushing or sieving is required after drying, reducing production steps and improving product purity. The particle size, bulk density and moisture content of products can be adjusted within a certain range by changing operating conditions for easy control and management.
